Multi-Head & Multi-Axis Weeding
Our Proof of Concept is called BonnBot-I. BonnBot-I is a versatile agricultural platform designed at the University of Bonn. It is equipped with a novel weeding tool design enabling high-precision plant-level field interventions. BonnBot-I is equipped with different sensors to localization and detect each plant in the field and execute the most relevant intervention.
What is Bio-Diversity Aware Weeding
Weed species’ competitiveness, influenced by factors like aggressiveness, water competition, and leaf size, directly impacts their harm to crops. Highly aggressive weeds like barnyard grass, pigweed, and lambs quarters out-compete crops for resources, reducing yields and quality.
Efficient water acquisition, linked to leaf size, exacerbates this harm, especially in dry environments. Recognizing diverse competitive behaviors is vital for effective weed management, requiring adaptable, biodiverse-aware robots.
What is Bio-diversity in Arable Farms?
Biodiversity-aware systems focus on preserving biological diversity by minimizing environmental harm and balancing human activities with nature. They enhance ecosystem services, support sustainable agriculture, and conserve genetic diversity for adaptation and evolution.
DynamoBot’s multi-head weeding tool applies these principles by selectively removing unwanted plants while protecting beneficial ones. This precision helps sustain native species, prevent soil erosion, and maintain ecosystem balance, supporting both biodiversity and agricultural sustainability.
Each Plan only gets treated once and only with the most effective method
(Chemical, thermal, or Mechanical)
For the first time, we present a concept of bio-diversity-aware weed management and assess its practicality in real-world scenarios.
Our approach improves the precision and effectiveness of agricultural robots and emphasizes the necessity of incorporating ecological considerations into crop management.
